Welcome to Augusta Independent School.  I am very blessed to be starting my 20th year at AIS, and my 6th year in the position of principal.  In my time here, I have also served as a teacher, coach, Athletic Director and Assistant Principal.  Being employed at Augusta Independent has allowed me to achieve a life-long dream, and after all this time, there is still no place else I would rather work.   The faculty, staff, administration, board of education, community, families and most importantly the students are truly one big family working together.

We strive daily to make good on our mission to ensure that all students achieve high levels of learning in a nurturing climate, empowering them to be responsible and productive citizens of a global community.  We accomplish this by offering a very rigorous curriculum that puts an intentional focus on making sure that our students are college and career ready when they graduate.  One of our main goals as a school is to differentiate instruction so that each student can be successful in the classroom.

One of the best examples of us trying to meet the needs of all of our students is our Seniors to Sophomores program.  This program allows our Juniors and Seniors the opportunity to take college classes at Maysville Community and Technical College.  By taking advantage of this opportunity, students that graduate from AIS have the opportunity to earn enough college credits to almost be classified as a sophomore in college.  Starting this year, the state has provided scholarships that allow high school students to take some of these dual credit classes for free.

Another new opportunity we are excited about is the ability to attend vocational school in both the morning and the afternoons.  Our Juniors will attend in the morning and receive the first year of the program, and our seniors will attend in the afternoon for the second year of their program.  Programs offered at the Mason Co. Area Technology Center include: machine tool, welding, electricity, auto body, auto maintenance, health science, pharmacy tech.

We are very excited to incorporate the NeuroNet Learning system with our primary students.  Students in grades PS – 2nd will really benefit from this hands on program.  NeuroNet is a research-based learning readiness program designed to help students develop fluency in essential reading, math, and handwriting skills.

Along with our challenging academic standards, we also offer a wide variety of extracurricular activities to help make every student a well-rounded individual. Some of the clubs we sponsor include FCCLA, BETA and FBLA.  We also offer programs for Teens Against Tobacco Use, Fellowship of Christian Athletes, and Robotics.  Our students are given opportunities in the Culinary Arts, Vocational Studies, Foreign Languages, Band and Choir.  The athletic teams we field include basketball, baseball, softball, tennis, archery, volleyball, cross country, track and cheerleading.  We feel that these clubs, teams and activities give our students the opportunity to build leadership and social skills necessary for success in the real world.

At AIS it is our vision to, “Always Inspire Success.”  We realize that success comes in many forms, and that is why we try offer our students as many opportunities and learning experiences possible.  We take extreme pride in being a small school, that offers our students big experiences.  We take our role as educators very seriously, and truly appreciate the opportunity to educate your children.   It gives us a great sense of “Panther Pride” to watch our students transform from curious elementary students to the leaders of tomorrow.
